Fly Fishers International (FFI) is the recognized authority on casting instruction. Our FFI Certified Casting Instructor has passed rigorous written and practical exams covering casting mechanics, technique analysis, and teaching methodology. You're getting structured, tested instruction from someone who has earned the credential to teach it.
What We Cover
The Basic Cast
Master the overhead cast from stroke mechanics to timing. We build a solid foundation before adding complexity.
Roll Cast
Essential for tight spots where a back cast isn't possible. A critical skill every fly angler needs.
Loop Control
Learn to shape your loop for distance, accuracy, and wind-fighting ability. The hallmark of an efficient caster.
Accuracy Casting
Hitting a 12-inch target at 30 feet. We'll work on placing the fly exactly where it needs to go.
Common Fault Correction
Tailing loops, wide loops, ticking the grass behind you — we diagnose and fix what's going wrong.
Line Management
Stripping line, shooting line, and managing slack. The 'boring' stuff that makes everything else work.
Who This Is For
Casting lessons work well for brand-new anglers who want to start with good mechanics, and for experienced anglers working out a specific fault — tailing loops, poor accuracy, or a cast that just feels off. Lessons take place on still water or a calm stretch of river along Colorado's Front Range; exact location is confirmed after you reach out.
